Everyone dreams at some point in their lives, and this is part of the process of sleep.
When the body rests, the brain also takes the opportunity to do the same, and that is when dreams occur. But is it possible for humans to control the process of dreaming? According to more recent studies, yes, this can be done, but with caveats.
The so-called lucid dreamswhich occur when the individual is aware that they are dreaming, are a very intriguing phenomenon that has been researched for several decades.
The largest research carried out on the topic to date has managed to identify the best strategies to help people gain control over this.
Through some specific practices, an individual is able to increase the likelihood of controlling a dream.
Therefore, according to a meta-analysis, it was discovered that around 55% of adults have experienced this process at least once in their lives.
Subsequently, 23% usually experience this experience with some regularity, at least once a month.
Therefore, this information proves that lucid dreams are not as rare as previously thought and can occur with considerable frequency.
Thus, thanks to a survey carried out with 107 adult volunteers, who reported having at least one such experience during the year, it was possible to discover some valuable tips on the topic.

In short, people can indeed control their dreams, since this phenomenon has already been confirmed by scientific studies.
However, this requires a lot discipline and constant practice, as the process can vary significantly from one dreamer to another.
To begin with, the person can record their experiences in writing and in as much detail as possible to achieve ‘lucid dreams’.
This helps you remember nighttime events in more detail and, consequently, control them better.
The second tip refers to REM phase of sleepthat is, the last stage that comprises the sleep cycle.
This stage is known for its extensive brain activity, very similar to that which occurs when we are awake. So, set your alarm clock to wake you up half or an hour before your usual time.
The aim of this is to wake you up precisely at this stage, without making sudden movements or opening your eyes. This way, you will be able to remember what you dreamed about more easily.
Then, concentrate on this state until you fall asleep again, so that you can continue the dream. When this process occurs, the chances of having a lucid dream are much greater.
However, if it doesn’t work out, at least you can start another good dream.
During your waking hours, constantly ask yourself if you are sleeping. This may seem silly at first, but by doing it often you can gain confidence. ability to ask the same question while you are sleeping.
In this way, little by little, we develop the ability to distinguish when we are dreaming and to control that dream reality.
