By the end of 2024, the Central Bank of Brazil plans to implement its digital currency, taking the country’s economy into a new evolutionary era of safer, faster and more accessible virtual transactions.

According to the federal agency, financial operations will benefit, as they will allow greater practicality in purchases, transfers and even investments, without the need for a bureaucratic process with several conversion steps. The safety of Brazilians will be guaranteed by the use of systems blockchain.

Furthermore, the new way of using money increases convenience, avoiding the stress of carrying physical bills and adding or exchanging amounts to adapt to market prices.

Brazilian cryptocurrency?

It is worth noting that the Digital Real will not be a cryptocurrency, but rather a virtual version with a value equivalent to the real. The fact is that cryptocurrencies are not regulated by the Central Bank, unlike what happens with digital currency.

This will be the first CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) of Brazil and cannot be withdrawn in the form of physical money, that is, paper notes.

Therefore, in addition to bringing technological innovation to the country’s inhabitants and being on par with other nations that have already implemented their respective digital versions, the novelty represents a step forward for sustainability, further reducing the production of banknotes.

According to the Central Bank, only 3% of the money used in operations in Brazil is made up of paper banknotes. This means that the digitalization process has already begun, and this action only regulates a more efficient method of using money.

Given the next steps for the country’s economy and the path towards another digital era, it is important to stay informed about the economic prospects and the future of national transactions. So, get ready for a new evolution in financial life.
