How does the device work?
The device will send electrical signals that will induce the brain to generate sensations. Some of these are: pleasure, pain, cold, among others. One of the biggest supporters of this initiative is Sony.
The founder of the startup is Emi Tamaki and he talked a little in an interview about how the idea for this project came about. Tamaki has some limitations due to heart problems, so he can’t try everything he wants.
In this sense, he decided to focus his studies on creating a product that would allow not only him, but everyone who finds themselves in some type of restriction, to experience new sensations.
The developer shared that this technology will allow even more immersion for those who will use it. The more sensations available, the greater the proximity to reality.
Virtual relationships of affection can be important when, for example, a hug from a distance is necessary. Everyone will want to feel as close as possible to a face-to-face hug.
This is a path that has not yet been studied or developed precisely because of the complexity required. Even with the help of large companies like Sony, this result may only be presented to the end consumer in a few years.
