This unique and innovative keyboard, which is approximately 1.65 meters long, features all the keys arranged in a single row. It promises to provide a experience typing completely different from what we are used to.

Inspired by the Japanese word for “keyboard” known as “kii-bou-do,” Google designers dedicated their efforts to exploiting the “slash” portion of the keyboard, resulting in a linear QWERTY layout. In this new design, letters, numbers, function keys and the Enter key are aligned consecutively, defying conventional keyboard standards.

What may initially seem like a joke is actually a real creation. Google launched the GBoard Bar as a curious project, highlighting that it is “not officially supported by Google”.

Surprisingly, all the instructions needed to build this unique keyboard are available on GitHub, allowing enthusiasts to try out this alternative typing experience.

This initiative brings back memories of Google’s laid-back early days, when creative ideas like this were more common, even outside of April Fools’ Day. The GBoard Bar represents a unique approach to keyboard design and could be an interesting alternative for those who want a unique and challenging typing experience.

While it may not be an ideal choice for everyday productivity, the GBoard Bar certainly turns heads and demonstrates that innovation and a sense of fun are still alive and well at the tech giant.

Be like a piece of conversation or a weekend project, the GBoard Bar is sure to make its mark in the world of input devices, challenging traditional design conventions.
