A new agreement has been reached between the Dubai Transport and Streets Authority (RTA) and a company called Joby Aviation.
The objective of both is grandiose: to make flying taxis available in the desert metropolis from the year 2026.
According to the statement from the Californian company, if everything goes as planned, the service could begin on that date without any major problems.
Remembering that a flying vehicle has already completed its first flight there and the treaty mentioned above aims to promote broader coverage for this functionality.

Joby Aviation’s eVTOL vehicle is currently capable of taking off and landing in a vertical position and its design closely resembles that of a helicopter.
The invention has a range of 240 km and landing and take-off would be carried out between Dubai airport, its Marina, the city’s central region and the Palm Jumeirah. In this way, this service promises to make the location a more connected and agile destination.
According to information released by Joby Aviation itself, they are working together with the European Union’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to ensure the success of the venture.
The initiative also foresees the construction of a space called ‘Vertiport’ at Dubai International Airport, where passengers from flying taxis they would be able to program routes, in addition to other relevant services.
Despite high expectations, at this point there is no way of knowing whether the partnership will bear functional fruit.
However, it is undeniable that the urban air mobility segment is booming and should attract increasingly greater investments from now on, including in the Brazil.
