It is not news that electric cars are still not accessible to the majority of the Brazilian population. However, the company BYD is seeking to establish itself in the Brazilian market by offering an electric car that allows the population to have access to this cutting-edge technology.
BYD’s goal is to provide a vehicle that allows Brazilians to enjoy the best that electric cars have to offer. In this sense, one of the models available from the company is the BYD Seagull, which is considered competitive in relation to other models offered in Brazil.
While the BYD Seagull’s price tag may be a bit daunting to some, ranging from $130,000 to $180,000, it’s important to note that it’s significantly more affordable than many other models available on the market, which typically retail for upwards of $145,000.
However, it is interesting to note that the same electric car model in China is sold for around R$75,000, which shows that a significant part of the price of the BYD Seagull in Brazil is attributed to import and transportation taxes.

Is BYD’s electric car already being sold in Brazil?
But if you’ve started to get interested in this vehicle, pay attention. It’s not yet being sold in Brazil, but it will be from 2024 onwards.
In the current context of the Brazilian automotive market, two companies are competing to stand out in the sale of electric cars: JAC and Renault.
JAC offers the E-JS1 model, which has an average price of R$145,000 and a 62-horsepower electric motor. According to tests carried out with the model, it is capable of reaching a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds.
Renault, on the other hand, has its best-known model, the Kwid e-Tech s, which is sold for around R$146,000 and has a power of 65 horsepower. There is a strong rivalry between the two companies in the Brazilian market.
However, BYD’s electric car stands out compared to the models offered by JAC and Renault. BYD’s model has a power of around 75 horsepower, which is higher than the other models. In addition, BYD’s electric car is economical and can travel up to 500 km without needing to be recharged.
