Renowned operator ends its operations for customers later this year

Nomo, a mobile telephone operator that used the infrastructure of Alivesurprised its customers with the news of the closure of operations aimed at individuals.

In an email communication, the company announced the migration of customers to Fluke, another mobile virtual operator (MVNO) that shares the same structural base.

Deactivation with scheduled date

The transition to Fluke is scheduled to begin next week, starting December 27th. This is an important change, however, without the need to replace the chip.

Nomo customers will receive instructions to install the Fluke app starting December 26th to begin administering the new mobile plans.

As Nomo directs its focus to the corporate market, by leveraging NomoWave, a technology and infrastructure platform, the operator’s users will face adjustments in prices and services.

The transition will result in up to a 12% increase in costs for Nomo customers, as well as a reduction in data package options available from Fluke.

Fluke positions itself with services such as WhatsappWaze and Google Maps without deducting them from the allowance, as well as unlimited calls and 10 SMS per month on all plans.

However, the company ensures that the commercial conditions of Nomo’s old plans will be preserved in the next renewal, as new prices will only be applied from the second renewal onwards.

This movement in Brazilian telephony is not unprecedented. Companies like Oi Móvel, split between Vivo, TIM and Claro in 2022, in addition to Nextel, absorbed by Clear in 2020, these are examples of significant transformations in the market.

The history of other operators, such as Aeiou, highlights the difficulty of establishing themselves in the competitive telecommunications market in the country.

Nomo’s imminent transition to Fluke highlights not only the dynamics of the mobile industry, but also the importance of customers adapting to sudden changes in service options and costs offered by operators.
