While many are looking forward to the launch of ‘GTA 6’we decided to go back in time a little and remember the classic games in the series.
In ‘Grand Theft Auto 3’, the protagonist Claude never said if he wanted a word, he always remained silent, even in the face of the chaos that existed around him.
The fact aroused fans’ curiosity about the reason for his lack of lines, and now, more than twenty years later, this issue has finally been clarified.
Voiceless protagonist
If you expected a controversy or a very far-fetched reason behind it, you will probably be disappointed. In fact, there is no elaborate explanation, the reason is so simple.
In a post on his personal blog, Obbe Vermeij, a designer who worked at Rockstar North from 1995 to 2009, revealed the secrets behind the first four games in the series and debunked rumors and speculation.

Due to negative reaction from former company colleagues, the developer had to take the blog offline in November this year, but is still active on his X account (formerly Twitter).
When asked by a player why Claude remains silent throughout the adventure while the others speak normally, Vermeij revealed the answer.
The leap the series made in two years was enormous, so the Rockstar He worked at the limit of his capabilities. So the fact that Claude doesn’t speak is simply because “the audio department was busy.”
Tweet translation: “Why didn’t this guy ever talk?”
Tweet translation: “At least part of that was because we had to cut costs. The audio department was already busy.”
A little disappointing, but that’s what it is. There is no philosophical reason or complex explanation that can generate multiple theories.
According to the former designer, the Rockstar North team had to reduce expenses and speed up production time to launch the game in 2001, and hence the idea of including a voice actor for Claude was discarded.
