Twitter welcomes new CEO, who is confident she can revolutionize the platform

Twitter is one of the largest and most used social networks in the world. Since last year, the app has been owned by billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX and also the second richest person on the planet. The businessman bought the company for US$44 billion and has served as CEO since the purchase.

Unfortunately for Musk, the platform is currently in financial crisis, with a steady decline in profits due to advertising revenue, as advertisers have stopped investing in the app since the network lost 80% of its staff.

Concerned about the situation, the “former CEO” of Twitter announced, last week, a new representative who seems excited to work with the billionaire.

Musk announced, on May 12, the new CEO of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino. The new representative comes from a background as head of NBC Universal, a media conglomerate owned by Comcast Corp, the largest internet access provider and second-largest broadcasting and cable TV company in the world.

Linda posted about the issue for the first time on her Twitter profile since her hiring was announced. Showing inspiration from Musk, she appears to be committed to transforming the platform, creating a “better future”.

Check out the post:

I see I have some new followers????…???? I’m not as prolific as @elonmusk (yet!), but I’m just as committed to the future of this platform.

Your feedback is VITAL to that future. I’m here for all of it.

Let’s keep the conversation going and build Twitter 2.0 together!

Free translation of the post: “Thanks [Elon Musk]! I have long been inspired by your vision of creating a better future. I am excited to help bring that vision to Twitter and transform this business together!” commented Yaccarino, responding to the company owner’s announcement. In the comments, she jokes that she has received new followers and comments on the importance of user feedback in creating a “Twitter 2.0”

Elon said that the new CEO will help build an “everything app,” capable of offering different services and tools to make people’s lives easier, but that the platform’s advertising will be the main focus at the moment, possibly to reverse the financial situation.
