The ‘Home is currently unavailable’ error on Fire TV Stick spoils the mood when setting up to stream a new movie or show. If you are encountering the problem frequently, it is time to troubleshoot the problem once and for all.
1. Check Internet Connection
Amazon Fire TV Stick requires a stable internet connection for a seamless experience. If your internet connection is slow or working, you will encounter the home currently unavailable error on the device. Most streaming services recommend at least a 10 Mbps connection for 1080p content and a 20 Mbps connection for 4K streaming.
Check the following factors that may affect the internet speed on the device.
- If other devices (connected to the same Wi-Fi network) are downloading large files, it may interfere with Fire TV Stick operations.
- Is there interference between your Wi-Fi router and Fire TV Stick? Thick walls, long distances, and wireless signals from other devices can interfere with the connection.
- Is your ISP throttling video streams? Some internet service providers intentionally slow down internet speed to reduce bandwidth consumption.
2. Use Ethernet Wired Connection
A wired connection is usually much faster than a wireless connection. The Ethernet cable does not need to rely on the router. For Amazon Fire TV Stick, you can plug directly into the Ethernet adapter.
Secondly, there are no obstacles between the router and the device. Many electrical and some mechanical obstacles tend to weaken the Wi-Fi signal.
The internet/LAN cable and power cable from your Fire Stick power adapter will go into the Ethernet adapter. Then you need to plug a single USB cable from the Ethernet adapter into your Fire TV Stick.
A strong wired connection increases internet speed and eliminates the problem that Home is currently unavailable to the user.
3. Check Router
Sometimes the real culprit can be the router you use for your Wi-Fi connection. In such cases, you will not be able to connect to the internet from any device, let alone loading the home page on the Fire TV Stick.
In such cases, you need to reset the router or upgrade the firmware to the latest version available. Try connecting to the internet and browse Fire Stick comfortably.
By default, it decides to connect to the 2.4GHz band. So, connect the Fire TV Stick (especially the 4K model) to the 5GHz band on your Wi-Fi network. App results in Home are currently unavailable error on Fire TV Stick.
