Speed ​​up your smartphone with the new RAM Plus function: find out how to get the most out of it!

Manufacturers such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola are increasingly investing in the use of virtual RAM to improve the performance of their phones and make them faster. This helps to improve the performance of the smartphone when using more demanding applications.

Although not all models available on the market have this function, it is possible to find it in both premium line devices, such as the Galaxy S23, and in intermediate models, such as the Redmi Note 12.

What is RAM Plus?

Virtual RAM is a storage expansion feature that uses the available part of your smartphone’s memory to increase its RAM capacity. This makes your smartphone faster and gives you more autonomy when using your device. Check out how to activate it on some models:

Samsung

1. Go to settings and scroll down to Device and Battery Care;
2. click on Memory and access the virtual RAM options. On Samsung devices, it is called RAM Plus. So, when you click on the option, a menu to activate it appears;
3. choose how much internal storage you want to turn into RAM Plus. Then the phone asks to be restarted, so do that and the feature will be active.

Xiaomi

1. Go to Settings and go to Additional Settings;
2. look for Memory Extension and tap how much you want to use;
3. The phone will ask you to restart it, do so. The feature will then be active for you to take full advantage of RAM Plus.

On both devices, if you want to disable this option, simply repeat the steps shown here. And be careful: your smartphone will only activate this function if it has enough space to do so. So keep an eye on your device’s storage.
