Sunspots, darker areas on the Sun’s surface, form when there is an accumulation of magnetic energy and they intertwine to create an unstable environment. In turn, these spots can cause spectacular explosions due to pressure within the solar magnetic fields.
When these explosions occur, the Sun releases jets of plasma known as coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which can become a threat when aimed at Earth, penetrating our planet. magnetosphere and triggering geomagnetic storms.
