Revolution in science: AI is now capable of deciphering brain waves and revealing images of the mind

A artificial intelligence continues to advance and be incorporated in different ways. This time, researchers were able to use it to reconstruct images from human brain waves, and the result was impressive, reaching more than 75% accuracy.

The method created by the scientists uses the Bayesian estimation structure to introduce semantic information assistance into AI. Surprisingly, the structure was successful in both reconstructing images seen by the human eye and those imagined.

Thinking about this type of system evolution is surprising, given the speed at which AI systems are increasing their power of action. Decipher brain waves It is certainly quite an advance.

How was this possible?

The experiment was quite sophisticated. Test subjects were placed in a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) machine and instructed to view 1,200 varied images.

Then, the subjects had to see an image different from the 1,200 previously seen and, 30 to 60 minutes after this initial process, they responded to the researchers’ request and imagined what type of image they had seen.

All brain activity was monitored and measured using fMRI. With the implementation of a Generative AIit became possible to decipher the brain waves and reconstruct the images, which went through a 500-step review process.

Important advance

The success achieved by the research means an important advance in this type of test, as, until then, it was only possible to identify images seen by measuring brain waves.

With the possibility of getting a glimpse of what was imagined by a person, the situation changes a lot.

“These results suggest that our structure would provide a unique tool to directly investigate the subjective contents of the brain, such as illusions, hallucinations and dreams”, envision the researchers involved.
