Is global warming a hoax? Nobel Prize for Physics challenges scientific consensus

John F. Clauser, Distinguished Prize Laureate Nobel of Physics in 2022, recognized for his innovative experiments with light particles in the 1970s, is currently at the epicenter of a controversy of vast proportions.

During a lecture given at an event organized by the Coalizão Depósito da Fé, a group associated with Catholic institutions, the renowned octogenarian scientist surprised by proclaiming that “there is no climate crisis”.

Declaring global warming a hoax, Clauser aligned himself with a perspective shared by some at the event. They maintain that the phenomenon is a ruse perpetrated on a global scale by entities such as the United Nations (UN).

Despite being aware that his words may cause discomfort to many, Clauser defends his position:

“My message is that the planet is not in danger. I consider myself a climate skeptic. They say this is not politically correct. So I believe I am a climate crisis person.”

It is pertinent to note that the Nobel Prize in Physics has never published a peer-reviewed article on climate change.

However, during his presentation, he laid out his own theory, arguing that Earth’s temperature is predominantly determined by cloud cover rather than carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels.

Clauser maintains that clouds have a net cooling effect on the planet, concluding that there is, in fact, no climate crisis.

These assertions by the scientist contradict the prevailing scientific understanding. The majority of experts in climate agrees that global warming will have catastrophic consequences for present and future generations.

Clauser’s stance, also expressed during a conference in Seoul, South Korea, a month after joining the board of directors of the CO2 Coalition, a group that advocates for the benefits of carbon dioxide for the planet, raises questions and promotes debates about the validity of their claims in opposition to the current scientific consensus.
