Gone are the days when we relied on text messages for communication. Nowadays we have all forms of communication such as stickers, emojis, gifs and voicemails. WhatsApp makes it easy for users to speed up voicemail when dealing with voice messages. Some may not like the change. You can easily fix WhatsApp audio speed on mobile and desktop.
Among all the message types, voice messages are getting attention these days. It is easy to use for users and eliminates the hassle of typing long messages.
WhatsApp, the largest IM application, has added helpful tools to manage voice messages. Sometimes you may want to speed up or slow down the voice messages for clear hearing. The only problem is that WhatsApp saves this as your default audio playback speed and uses it for all audio messages.
We will cover all four operating systems including Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android and fix the audio speed. Let’s start with WhatsApp mobile apps. Shall we do it?
WhatsApp App for iOS
WhatsApp uses a different interface between iPhone and Android. If you encounter a sound speed issue on your iPhone, the steps above should help you fix it.
Stage 1: Open WhatsApp on iPhone.
Step 2: Open the conversation whose voicemail you want to listen to.
Stage 3: Go to the received voicemail.
Step 4: Hit the play button and check the current speed from the chat bubble. Here’s what they mean.

1x – 1x means WhatsApp will play the voice message at normal speed.
1.5x – 1.5x indicates that the message will be played at 1.5x speed.
Two times – 2x signal that WhatsApp will play the message at twice the speed.
If the voicemail shows 1.5x or 2x, WhatsApp will play the voicemail faster. It may cause discomfort while listening to the message.
You can tap 1.5x and that will speed up the audio by 2x. Tap on 2x again and it will revert to normal 1x speed. There is no way to slow down a voicemail from 1x to 0.5x.
WhatsApp App for Android
The trick to fix WhatsApp audio speed on Android remains the same. Let’s check the steps in action since it uses a slightly different UI.
Stage 1: Go to WhatsApp on Android.
Step 2: Open a conversation.
Stage 3: Go to WhatsApp voicemail.
Step 4: Play the message, tap on 1.5x or 2x and switch back to 1x for normal audio speed.

Once you change the voice speed with WhatsApp, the service uses the same speed for all voice messages.
WhatsApp Mac App
WhatsApp implemented the same sound speed trick in its desktop apps. If you are using WhatsApp on desktop (we now have more reasons as WhatsApp offers multi-device support), you can use the following trick and fix the audio speed on WhatsApp desktop.
Stage 1: Open WhatsApp on Mac.
Step 2: Open a conversation you want to listen to or send an audio message to.
Stage 3: The 1x, 1.5x or 2x buttons will not appear until you play the message.

Step 4: Tap the play button and click 1.5x or 2x to return to 1x speed.

When you set 1x for audio speed, WhatsApp saves it as your default preference and uses the same audio speed when sending voice messages.
Fix Audio Speed in WhatsApp Windows App
WhatsApp for Windows also supports different audio speeds for voice messages. It also works well with multi-device. Here’s what you need to do.
Stage 1: Launch WhatsApp on Windows.
Step 2: Open any conversation and play a voicemail.
Stage 3: Tap on 1.5x or 2x while the voicemail is playing, it will change to 1x.

WhatsApp for web uses a similar user interface and functions as desktop apps. You can also apply the same trick to WhatsApp for web and fix the audio speed.
Slow Down Audio Speed on WhatsApp
Higher audio speed in WhatsApp can cause errors and confusion while listening. You can follow the above steps and easily fix WhatsApp audio speed on all supported platforms.
