How to Create and Share Playlists on Spotify

Do you miss the days when you made mixtapes for your friends and family? Or do you want to create a curated playlist for your music? The days of burning CDs for your Walkman may be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop sharing your music.

With Spotify’s easy-to-use desktop and mobile apps, you can create your playlists and share them with anyone. Besides the shareable link of your playlist, you can also embed it on your blog or site.

Before creating a playlist, you need to make sure you have Spotify on your mobile or desktop and create a Spotify account. You can connect your Spotify account to Facebook to see what your friends are listening to. In the future, you can unlink your Spotify and Facebook accounts.

Thanks to Spotify’s easy-to-use desktop and mobile apps, we can create our playlists and share them with anyone and everyone who has access to the Internet. You can share or embed the link of your playlist.

Creating a Playlist in the Spotify App for Desktop

Stage 1: Open your Spotify app. At the top of the taskbar on the left, you’ll find helpful navigation buttons. For this guide we will use create playlist button.

Step 2: The app will take you to a new tab to start adding songs to your playlist. Use the search bar to search for your songs by typing the name or artist (indicated by an arrow).

Click Add The button (circled) to the right of the song you selected. This will add the song to your new playlist. Keep searching for music and adding it to your playlist.

Stage 3: When you have all the songs you want to add to your playlist, you may want to rename your playlist to be more attractive before sharing. Highlight your playlist and Right Click (or two-finger click with the trackpad).

click rename and change your playlist name to whatever makes you happy.

Sharing Your New Playlist from the Spotify Desktop App

Now that we’ve created and renamed our brand new playlist, we can share our masterpiece.

Stage 1: Find your playlist in the toolbar on the left and Right Click (double-tap a trackpad) to access the drop-down menu. Scroll down Share tab.

Spotify will give you two options:

• Copy Link to Playlist: This will copy the direct link to your playlist. You can paste this link anywhere and whoever clicks on your link will be sent to your music.
• Embed Playlist: This option opens a new window for you to customize how your playlist will appear on your web page. You will be able to see all the songs in your playlist, edit the color, size of the playlist and see the code.

How to Create a Playlist in the Spotify App for iPhone

Stage 1: Open your Spotify app. Click Call button and search for the songs you want to add to your new playlist.

Step 2: Find the song you want from the suggested menu, click the ellipses (…) to the right of the song. This will open a new window.

Stage 3: click add to playlist. A new window will open to create a new playlist or add it to an existing playlist you may already have.

Keep adding songs to your playlist to your heart’s content.

Step 4: You can change the name of your playlist after adding songs. Click your library Press the button in the lower right corner of the screen. Find your playlist in your library and click on it.

Step 5: When you open your playlist, click the three dots (…) in the middle of the screen. Name of your song, album cover (Change your name) and add a description to your playlist.

When you’re done editing, click on it. Save Press the button in the upper right corner of the screen.

Sharing Your Playlist from Spotify App on iPhone

QR Codes

There are several ways to share your new playlist on Spotify. One of the newest features is the new QR Codes.

Stage 1: Find the playlist you want to share in your library and click it. Click the three dots (…) in the middle of the screen.

Step 2: Your playlist options will open and at the top you will see the album art of your playlist. Below it is the Spotify logo and some soundbars – that’s the QR code! You can take a screenshot of it or show it to your friends to scan.

Share Links

If you want to send your playlist as a message to your friends or send an online link, you can do so from your phone as well.

Stage 1: Find the playlist you want to share in your library and click it. Click on the three dots in the middle of the screen (…)

Step 2: Your playlist option will open and from there navigate to the bottom of the panel. you will see a button Share. Click on it.

You will have the option of sharing to copy the link, sharing with different apps and various other options depending on what you have installed on your phone.
