Could it be aliens? Strange ring of light seen in the sky over Italy

On March 27, a strange, giant, reddish ring of light was seen in the night sky over Italy. The glow passed so quickly that most residents of the country failed to notice it, but those who did were able to capture the moment.

Photographer Walter Binotto was one of them and managed to photograph the circle above the town of Posagno. In the photo, the circle appears to be very close to the town, but the large light was located many kilometers away.

The perspective of the photo and the circle’s diameter of over 300 km gave the impression that the great event had occurred there.

What is the explanation for this sign in the sky over Italy, anyway?

According to the portal Spaceweatherthe ELVE phenomenon or “light emission and very low frequency disturbances due to electromagnetic pulse sources” consists of a disturbance in the stratosphere that is the result of a large volume of lightning in a storm.

This phenomenon occurs when rings of light appear in electromagnetic pulses (EMPs). These pulses, in turn, are emitted by lightning and reach the Earth’s ionosphere.

Most of the time, this type of event can only be seen from space, as happened in 2021, on the ISS, although in this case it was possible to see it from Earth due to its enormous size.

History of the phenomenon

On another occasion, a strange luminous phenomenon was recorded in Europe in early September. The astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Thomas Pesquet, posted the curious fact on his official Twitter account in 2021:

“This is a very rare occurrence and we have a facility close to the Columbus laboratory in Europe that is dedicated to observing these flashes of light.”Pesquet said when sharing the image in a clearer form on his profile.

“The space station is extremely capable of this observatory, since it passed over the equator at a time when electrical storms were occurring”he concludes.

For him, what is most fascinating about this type of lightning is that, in recent times, scientists have taken a long time to convince themselves that it really exists, since it has only been observed a few times in recent decades.
