Although this measure could bring significant benefits to the owners of car manufacturers, such as increased sales, it is important to highlight the need to create exclusive taxation for these vehicles.
Therefore, assigning exclusive taxation to vehicles can be a complex task, as several factors must be taken into account.
In addition to the factors we have mentioned, those responsible for evaluating the approval of this measure also need to take into account another important aspect: ethanol’s vulnerability to extreme weather events.
When droughts or floods occur, for example, the production of sugarcane, the main raw material for ethanol, can decline. Consequently, this causes a reduction in supply and an increase in the price of this fuel. In comparison, gasoline does not tend to be impacted by these climate variations.
This factor may also affect the availability of ethanol in the future, as the increase in the occurrence of extreme weather events may lead to a decrease in sugarcane reserves and, consequently, ethanol itself.
However, even if the proposal is approved, it is important to highlight that it may take some time before ordinary Brazilians can benefit from the reduction in the prices of popular vehicles.
