Meta’s messaging service has always sought to provide new features. Therefore, a new messaging tool audio transcription on WhatsApp was announced in February this year and is already available to some users!
Months after this news was announced, some users are already claiming that they are having the option to view the transcript of an audio below the message.
What is known about the transcription feature?
The idea of transcribing audio did not come out of nowhere. The process has been in development since 2021 and has undergone several stages of improvement. However, practical testing only began in February 2023.
The main motivation behind the development of this option is to facilitate communication between individuals, especially in situations where it is not possible or convenient to listen to the audio sent by one of the parties. In addition, this tool can be very useful in transcribing long messages.
In terms of functionality, the audio transcription tool only struggles when it cannot understand what is being said or when the message is in a language other than the one used on the user’s device.
According to reports, this feature will be located below the audio. During transcription, the part of the audio being addressed will be highlighted in a different color so that both parties can follow the progress of the transcription.
