After ending its partnership with FIFA, EA publishes images of its new football game

With over thirty games released since 1993, the partnership between EA Games and FIFA can be considered long-lasting and very successful. However, last year, the agreement came to an end after disagreements over how the contract should be continued.

The latest title in the “FIFA” franchise was made available in 2022 and, following the tradition of releasing a soccer match per year, the developer will soon release its first game not to carry the federation’s name. Check out what is known about it.

EA Sports FC

EA Games, through its sports gaming division EA Sports, announced last month the name of its newest title. The game will be called “EA Sports FC” and more details will be released in July.

So far, very little is known about the game that promises to inaugurate the developer’s new series of football games. All we have is confirmation of the name and the logo, which is completely different from the “FIFA” series, a clear attempt to distance the production from its predecessors.

The end of a years-long partnership

EA’s new title would never have happened if the company hadn’t fallen out with its long-time partner, FIFA. It all started when the federation started charging an absurd amount for licensing its name during each World Cup cycle.

According to reports, FIFA was charging $1 billion for a 4-year licensing agreement from one world tournament to another, something that did not please the game developer at all. Thus, the 30-year partnership came to an end last year.

However, according to EA, the loss of the license will not pose any problems for its football games. On the contrary, it will allow the company to develop other functions that FIFA did not agree with, such as the production of content by players.
