Since the availability of the new payment model, Pix, several scams have been carried out using keys that direct money to criminals’ accounts. Previously, there were no ways to guarantee user security, which was one of the main complaints about this technology.
However, a new strategy has been developed! According to the Central Bank (BC), there will be a label to identify the PIX key security. Understand more about the subject.
New protection for payments with PIX
One of the main complaints from Pix users was the lack of protection against scams. In order to change this scenario, the Central Bank has just released a new strategy to help identify keys illegal or that present any security risk.
In addition to the creation of the labeling system to identify the security of the Pix key, other changes were announced. One of them is the application by banks of a self-assessment. This will inform whether or not the system contains all the necessary requirements to guarantee the security of the account.

How will the key evaluation system work?
Based on the activities carried out by the account, the bank signals whether the Pix key for the account may indicate any level of insecurity. Before receiving the label, the bank’s system Bank must indicate the factors that demonstrate the illegality of the account. Some of the options to be analyzed are: accounts with false documentation or with third-party information.
The BC highlighted that some information will be essential for the analysis of the institutions, such as: number of accounts linked to each user and possible infractions.
Information from the last five years will be available, and the evaluation process may take an average of six months to present the result.
The label to identify the key security can ensure greater security in the Pix system and prevent other people from being deceived and losing their money. According to the developers, this change will still take some time to reach the systems, and will be fully operational from November 5th.
