Privacy and security on WhatsApp: how do I lock my conversations?

New on WhatsApp: more privacy in the app

This major new feature was made available last Monday (15) and was named “Conversation Protection”. Therefore, from the moment the user requests this type of resource, some new options may appear, if the app is updated.

When the user flags the message they want to block, either with a password or with biometric or facial recognition, they will be directed to a new conversation tab, which will be displayed above the archived conversations, as we can see in the image below:

New arrivals only for Android?

According to the information provided, this new feature will be released both for people who have WhatsApp installed on devices with the Android system and for those who have iOS, being a very attractive option especially for those who need to share their cell phone with other people.

In a statement, Mark Zuckerbergowner of the company Meta, commented the following about this great news:

“The new blocked chats [por senha] on WhatsApp make your conversations more private. They are hidden in a password-protected folder and notifications do not show the sender or the content of the message.”

One password for all

In this latest version, the app will allow you to use just one password to protect all conversations, whether they are individual or in groups. And if you want to know how to perform this function, just follow these steps:

1. Go to your WhatsApp. Choose one of your conversations, whether individual or group;
2. Then go to the chat and open the settings;
3. Some options will appear. Select the “Use password” function or, if you prefer, “Biometrics”.

At the moment, the cell phone password is still the same one that will protect your WhatsApp conversations, but in a short time individual passwords will be able to be used.
