Ready, fans of ‘Yu Yu Hakusho‘Netflix is about to release its next big live-action adaptation and, after the resounding success of ‘One Piece’, expectations are sky high.
The series hits streaming in December, but the first official trailer has already given us a glimpse of our beloved characters.

‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ live-action: character comparison
For those unfamiliar, ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ follows the journey of Yusuke Urameshi, a young delinquent who, after an unexpected heroic act, finds himself in the difficult position of having to work as a Supernatural Detective in the spirit world.
The plot is full of cases involving demons, ghosts and extraordinary spiritual powers. The series live-action from ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ premieres on Netflix soon, on December 14th.

Yusuke Urameshi
Yusuke is a Spiritual Detective and protector of the human world – Image: Netflix, Pierrot/Reproduction.
Yusuke Urameshi, the rebellious protagonist with a heart of gold, comes to life in the hands of Takumi Kitamura.
Accustomed to fighting and with an explosive behavior, Yusuke sacrifices his life to save a little boy, triggering an epic journey into the spirit world.
Kurama

Kurama, the transformed thief with youkai powers, is played by Jun Shison. With the ability to control plants and a rose that transforms into a thorny whip, Kurama is a fan favorite.
Hiei

Hiei, initially introduced as a villain and later becoming an ally, is played by Kanata Hongo. With powers such as hypnosis, telepathy, and a sharp sword, Hiei is a complex character with a dark past.
Kazuma Kuwabara

A delinquent with a loyal heart, Kuwabara competed with Yusuke for the title of biggest troublemaker. In the film, he will be played by Shuhei Uesugi.
The relationship between the two is marked by rivalry and, in Kuwabara’s case, by a touching loyalty.
Toguro Brothers

The formidable Toguro siblings, Ototo and Ani, are played by Go Ayano and Ken’ichi Takitô, respectively. Ototo, the younger brother, and Ani, the ruthless elder, bring a palpable menace to the series.
Koenma

Koenma, the son of the king of the spirit world, is played by Keita Machida. In charge of judging souls, Koenma is usually portrayed as a child with a pacifier.
Botan

Koenma’s cheerful sidekick, Botan, is played by Kotone Furukawa. Responsible for transporting souls and passing on missions to YusukeBotan is a constant presence in the spirit world.
