Among the many problems reported in society and the exaltation of the country’s natural wonders, Brazil, in general, is a great country to live in. But of course, on a global level, competition is very high and Brazilians may end up falling a little behind.
Although some parameters may seem somewhat relative, there are standards and metrics that can establish which are the best cities in the world to live in.
In this context, the City Index 2023 It is a list that classifies, through a ranking, the best cities in the world, based on different economic, social and political aspects.
As many people would like to live in well-rated locations, it is important to know which city is closest to you and is on this list.
However, only two Brazilian cities appeared among the 100 best in the world. See which ones they are below.
Two Brazilian cities are among the best in the world

The Brand Finance City Index is the most comprehensive study that ranks cities around the world from an external perspective. That is, the view of city residents is not considered in the results.
The study includes 45 attributes that score the cities analyzed. Among them are parameters such as where to live, work (both locally and remotely), retire, study, invest and visit.
Furthermore, the study encompasses pillars such as sustainability and transport, culture and heritage, habitability, education and science, among others.
Unfortunately, Brazilian cities were not among the top ten – in fact, they were far from it – but even so, just being ranked among the top 100 is quite a title, since this is an international perspective.
Classification of Brazilian cities

The two cities ranked, surprisingly enough from an internal perspective, were São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. They occupied positions 75 and 69, respectively. However, there is an explanation for this ranking.
According to the director of Brand Finance Brasil, Eduardo Chaves, the most important factors for the classification were education and public safety.
On the other hand, the crime rate in these cities is enormous, causing a certain devaluation of the place. Rio de Janeiro did not even come close to good scores, ranking last in the education category.
Among the 10 best cities in the world, London stands out in first place, followed by New York and Paris. In addition to these, Los Angeles, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, San Francisco, Dubai and Amsterdam are in the ranking, exactly in that order.
