The Apple company has always maintained a reputation as one of the safest and most expensive in the world, but now the technology giant will offer the opportunity to acquire a free iPhone for the luckiest participants in the program launched by Apple itself!
The goal, it seems, is to explore new possibilities to further strengthen iOS security. However, participation in the so-called Security Research Device Program (SRDP) is not for everyone, offering an exclusive opportunity!

The company’s aforementioned program, SRDP, offers a hardware variant specially designed for security research, with tools to configure and disable advanced iOS security layers.
It is important to emphasize that the SRDP is a tool strictly for research and cannot be used for personal purposes. Apple provides the device under a 12-month renewable loan, ensuring that the device remains under your supervision during this period.
Researchers who have access to the tool will be able to carry out a series of tests, being able to access features such as customizing kernel caches (to explore the system core), modifying NVRAM variables, deploying Firmware for SPTM and TXM, capable of revealing innovations depths of the new iOS 17.
How to participate in the selection
All candidates for the program, which registrations are open until the last day of October this year (10/31), must meet certain requirements, which guarantee the total security of privacy and authenticity of the system. Among them are:
- live in one of the eligible countries, which include Brazil and many others from all continents in the world;
- have a history of work or research experience in the area of information security;
- be of legal majority in your country of activity;
- not have been an Apple employee within the last one year period.
Additionally, university educators, as well as companies and research organizations can participate in the program.
Although it seems somewhat risky for Apple, SRDP has already proven to be a great success, given that, since its launch in 2019, 130 security issues have been discovered in iOS.
Scholars who report the best solutions can still receive rewards ranging from an average of US$18,000 to US$500,000 (around R$2.5 million).
