The concept of travel in time is a pillar of Science fiction, evoking images of futuristic machines and fearless adventurers exploring unknown eras. However, what do we really know about the real possibility of this journey?
Is time travel possible?

As we delve into our scientific history, we realize that this idea is not just the product of creative minds. In addition to being a constant in series and films, such as “Doctor Who” and “The Terminator,” time travel has deep roots in physical theories.
When Albert Einstein presented the theory of relativity in the early 20th century, he not only changed our perception of the universe, but also paved the way for debates about the space-time relationship.
The Special Theory of Relativity, for example, presents us with a world where time can be dilated at high speeds, proposing that, if we traveled fast enough, we could feel time passing more slowly.
Real experiments, such as comparing clocks on aircraft and on Earth, have confirmed this idea. Surprisingly, high-speed clocks slowed down, demonstrating the impact of speed on time dilation.
If we consider the possibility of extreme acceleration, an intriguing proposal emerges: we would be able to witness future moments of our civilization or the cosmos, such as the collision between the Milky Way and Andromeda.
However, returning to the past presents even greater challenges. Einstein’s general relativity comes into play, describing a universe where massive bodies cause deformations in space-time. These distortions can, theoretically, create “wormholes”, shortcuts through the fabric of the universe that connect distant points.
These cosmic bridges could be the key to authentic time travel, allowing travel both to the future and to previously lived periods. Of course, this notion raises questions about paradoxes and unforeseen consequences.
For now, the reality of time travel remains more in the realm of speculation and literature than practical science. While we await more discoveries, we continue dreaming and imagining the wonders and challenges of being true travelers of the time.
