IP certification, or “Ingress Protection”, in English, refers to the international standard CEI 60529 Degrees of Protection.
This standard is used to indicate the level of protection a device offers against ingress from external elements.
It uses an alphanumeric classification to designate the degree of protection that a device has. This helps consumers understand how resistant the equipment is to factors such as dust and water.
Understanding IP certification
When deciphering IP certification, the first numeric digit describes dust protection. A value of ‘6’, for example, indicates that the device is fully protected against dust ingress, regardless of the circumstances.
The second numeric digit describes protection against liquids, usually water. A value of ‘7’, in turn, means the device can withstand complete immersion at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes without leaking.

The product manager at Xiaomi RedmiWu Hao, proudly announced that the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ smartphone has passed the IP69 protection test.
This is a remarkable feat that demonstrates Xiaomi’s commitment to the durability of its devices.
The IPX9 water resistance test was carried out on October 10 and evaluated by the Saibao Laboratory and the Fifth Electronic Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as shown in the machine below:

This test involves four openings through which water is injected at different angles and temperatures, ranging from 25 °C to 80 °C, with pressures reaching 10,000 kPa and impact forces of up to 1.2 N for 120 seconds.
Therefore, now, officially the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is considered the most resistant cell phone currently in the Xiaomi catalog.
Its IP69 certification indicates that it is highly resistant to liquid penetration and capable of withstanding challenging conditions, reinforcing consumers’ confidence in the device’s durability.
The device is impressive: it has a 6.67-inch screen and 1.5K resolution and is the first Redmi phone with a curved screen, supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate and a screen brightness of up to 1800 cd/m2.
