Each year, the Women Game Jam (WGJ) has become an important milestone in the game development industry, celebrating five years of success and empowerment of cis women, trans women, transvestites and non-binary people.
The event, which is considered the largest genre-specific game development marathon in the world, is now open for registration for its 2023 edition and promises to bring together talent and creativity in a safe and welcoming space.

Women Game Jam has stood out as a platform for inclusion and empowerment in the gaming industry, offering opportunities for underrepresented people in the field.
Since its inception in 2018, the event has witnessed a significant 15% increase in female participation in the industry, a clear sign of the positive impact the event has had on the community.

International and virtual participation

The 2023 edition of Women Game Jam will take place between August 11th and 13th completely virtually. The event will be held on a Discord server, bringing together participants not only from Brazil, but also from countries such as Chile, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Canada, Nigeria, South Africa, Germany, among others.
This online approach will allow women from different parts of the world to come together in a collaborative environment to create amazing games.
The ‘warm up’ for the Women Game Jam
For those who want to prepare for the main marathon, the Women Game Jam also offers a virtual event called “Esquenta”.
Until August 9th, lectures and workshops will be held for those interested in participating in the main event. Even without prior knowledge of game development, everyone is invited to join this creative and inclusive journey.
