Who has never needed to ask for one? Uber for a lost friend or a family member who is tired of racking their brains with the app? Many drivers were surprised when they went to pick up a passenger.
Finally, the app team heard the people’s cry, and Uber’s latest update allows users to request a ride for friends and family.
The new function is called U-Guest. This feature was officially launched in Brazil this year, after almost ten months of pilot testing in seven Brazilian cities (Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Santos, São José dos Campos, São Luís and Sorocaba).
The news is really good, so see how to use this new platform feature so that your family and friends don’t get left out in the cold.
How to use this Uber update?
Uber’s update is not rocket science. The intention is to make it easier to request a ride for someone else and to ensure the safety of passengers and drivers who use the platform. So, let’s take a look at the steps:
- Click on the “Where to?” field and the option to enter the route address will appear;
- Before defining the trip, select in the field above “Where to?” where you will see the option “Change user”;
- Select the “Add a user” option and enter a contact that is saved on your cell phone, in the “Search name or number” section;
- Select the contact of the person you are going to help and then click “Next”;
- Another option is to click on the “add a user” icon and enter the first name, last name and phone number yourself (this is in case of a contact that is not saved on your cell phone). Just click on the “+” icon in the top right corner of the screen;
- After adding the user, select the departure and arrival location of the trip in the “Where to?” fields;
- Check that everything is correct and, if it is, simply “Confirm” the trip. The request will be shown to the driver, and data such as the vehicle license plate and driver’s name will be sent to the guest via SMS.
If the ride is paid in cash, it will be the responsibility of the passenger who is going to board. If the payment is made by card, payment is the responsibility of the account holder who requested the ride.
