Traffic revolution: SP receives smart traffic lights; see how they work

However, the city of São Paulo has been facing serious problems with this equipment, as several thieves have stolen the wires that allow the passage of energy and the proper functioning of the equipment. Therefore, they have spent much of their time disconnected.

As a solution to this challenge, the municipality of São Paulo decided to bring greater modernization to traffic lights, and this new feature is already being implemented.

The new project to replace the traffic lights with a more technological version is under the responsibility of Ilumina SP. The company has been developing this project since 2022, which also includes replacing damaged equipment.

The total amount to be spent by São Paulo City Hall on the new project will be approximately R$1.12 billion, an amount that will be invested over 60 months.

How will the traffic lights work?

According to the details presented about the modern equipment, they will be directly linked to the CET (Traffic Engineering Company).

However, the innovation does not stop there, as each of these new traffic lights will perform the function of managing traffic in a specific way and adapted to the particular needs of each location.
