Amazon Fire TV Stick is an affordable and convenient streaming device. As Amazon refreshes its Fire TV Stick models, the focus on Fire OS reliability seems to be shaking. Some users experience frequent black screen, buffering and sometimes no sound at all. You can fix the Fire TV Stick sound not working issue.
Sound problems on Fire TV Stick can ruin the perfect weekend you have planned for your family. Also, it can be confusing to determine if the problem is with your TV or the Fire TV Stick. We will discuss each scenario and enable sound on Fire TV Stick.
1. Volume Up TV and Volume Up
This may seem like a simple step, but your little ones may have muted the TV. Double check if the TV is indeed in normal mode and increase the volume.
If you’re using an external sound system setup at home, you’ll also need to turn up the volume.
2. Reset Amazon Fire TV Stick
A loose HDMI connection can cause sound issues on the Fire TV Stick. Unplug the Fire TV Stick from the TV, turn it off and wait a few minutes.
Connect your Fire TV Stick to the TV again and try to play the video to check if the sound is working.
3. Switch to High Speed Internet Connection
If you are trying to stream a movie or TV show on a slow internet connection, you will notice glitches with video and audio output. You will also experience an audio delay.
Connect your Fire TV Stick to a faster, reliable internet connection. If your Wi-Fi router has dual band support, connect to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band.
4. Turn on the AV Receiver
Some users prefer to use an AV receiver to deliver the Fire TV Stick’s sound through external speakers (for example, a home theater system with surround sound). Make sure the AV receiver is turned on and Fire TV Stick is one of the sources.
Examine the AV receiver closely. If it’s on, you’ll notice the lights come on. If not, press the power button and turn it on. On the other hand, if the AV receiver is indeed turned on and you are still experiencing sound problems, continue with the other troubleshooting methods.
5. Change Settings in Surround Sound
Fire TV Stick allows users to choose the best possible audio output based on the content audio output device. Some Disney+ and Netflix content supports Dolby Digital+, and if the connected speaker or soundbar does not support Dolby Digital, there may be no sound from the video.
Make the relevant changes from the Fire TV Stick Settings menu.
Stage 1: From the Fire TV Stick home page, go to the Settings menu.
Step 2: Go to Display and Sound.
Stage 3: Choose Sound.
Step 4: Click on Surround Sound.
Select Best Available from the menu below.
6. Fix Audio Video Sync Setting

Stage 1: Open the Fire TV Stick Settings menu.
Step 2: Open the Display and Sound menu.
Stage 3: Choose Sound.
Step 4: Click on AV Sync Tuning.
It will open a default video player to fix audio/video sync while watching media.
7. Manually Tune Soundbar
A third-party soundbar can improve the sound experience on the TV. If the Fire TV Stick cannot recognize the connected sound system, you have to set it up manually.
Stage 1: Select Equipment Control from the Fire TV Settings menu.
Step 2: Select Manage Equipment.
Stage 3: Click Add Equipment and select Soundbar from the menu below.
Select your soundbar from the list and enable sound output from the TV.
8. Make Sure The HDMI Port Supports Audio
Most TVs have an audio-capable HDMI port. The problem occurs when you try to connect the Fire TV Stick with a Monitor or PC. Some HDMI ports do not support audio output at all.
Use another HDMI port or device to run Fire TV Stick content.
9. Restart Fire TV Stick
First, we reset the Fire TV Stick physical connection to the TV. Now, we’re going to do a software reboot. Here is how you can restart Amazon Fire TV Stick.
Stage 1: Open the Fire TV Stick Settings menu.
Step 2: Select My Fire TV.
Stage 3: Select Restart from the menu below.

Experiencing sound issues from a particular app on Fire TV Stick? You can force close or reinstall the installed app to fix the sound issue. If you jailbreak your Fire TV Stick and install third-party apps from the web, you should uninstall them as they are not verified and may break basic Fire TV Stick functions such as sound.
