Facebook, the parent company of Instagram, has made it easy for users to share content between both platforms. Like regular posts (images and short videos), you can share your Instagram TV (IGTV) videos to Facebook with the click of a button. It’s a smooth process, but there are times when it doesn’t work. This post will guide you through resolving issues that prevent you from sharing IGTV videos on Facebook.
IGTV videos can be shared to Facebook from the Instagram app, Instagram Web or the dedicated IGTV app. If your IGTV videos are not shared on Facebook, you can try alternative platforms/devices. So, if you can’t share your videos on the Instagram app or the Web, use the IGTV app. You should also make sure your (Instagram or IGTV) app is up to date.
Still can’t share IGTV videos on Facebook? Then move on to the other solutions listed below.
Note: The fixes in this guide apply to both Android and iOS devices.
1. Relink Facebook Account
I’m assuming you have linked your Instagram (or IGTV) app to your Facebook account. And if you are unable to share IGTV videos with your Facebook audience, you should disconnect your Facebook account from Instagram, reconnect and try again.
We’ll show you how to do this in the Instagram and IGTV app.
Reconnect Facebook in Instagram App
Stage 1: Launch the Instagram app and tap the profile icon in the lower right corner of the app.

Step 2: Next, select the hamburger menu icon in the upper-right corner of the profile page.

Stage 3: Select settings.

Step 4: Tap on Account.

Step 5: Select Linked Accounts and tap Facebook.

Step 6: Tap Unlink account.

Step 7: Tap ‘Yes, Unlink’ at the confirmation prompt.

This will disconnect your Facebook and Instagram accounts. Now, you need to relink both accounts. Close and reopen the Instagram app and continue with the steps below.
Step 8: On the linked accounts page (Step #1 — #5), select Facebook and tap Continue on the prompt.

Instagram automatically detects the Facebook account logged into your default mobile browser and requests access to it.
Step 9: The app will ask you to sign in to your Facebook account. Enter your account credentials and tap Sign In.

If your default mobile browser is already linked to a Facebook account, you will be prompted to continue with it.

Note: To connect a different Facebook account, you must first log out of your default mobile browser.
Your account will be linked to your Facebook page. The in-app IGTV service should now detect your Facebook account when you try to share your IGTV videos.
Reconnect Facebook in IGTV App
If you are using the standalone IGTV app and are unable to share videos on your Facebook profile, disconnecting and reconnecting your Facebook account may also help.
It’s also pretty easy. Follow the steps outlined below.
Stage 1: Launch the IGTV app and tap the gear icon in the top right corner.

This will launch the app’s Settings page.
Step 2: Select Linked accounts.

Stage 3: Select Unlink account on the page and tap ‘Yes, Unlink’ at the confirmation prompt.

Step 4: Close and restart the IGTV app.
Step 5: Go to the Settings page (see Step #1) and tap Linked accounts.

Step 6: Select Continue on the popup and sign in with your Facebook account credentials.

2. Check IGTV Status
If you still cannot share IGTV videos on Facebook, check if the IGTV service is up and running. The problem may be due to the end of Instagram; For example, the IGTV server may be down.
You should check with your friends to see if they face similar issues. You can also use third-party tools to check if Instagram has IGTV status. DownDetector is a reputable platform that monitors the status of websites in real time to detect outages and other service outages.
If the Facebook sharing issue persists on your IGTV videos, check if the service is working properly. You can check the status of IGTV from the button below.
3. Link Facebook Page to Instagram

To share IGTV videos on Facebook, you must meet two important prerequisites.
- You must be an admin of a Facebook page.
- The page must be linked to your Instagram account.
I discovered that when I couldn’t share IGTV videos on my Facebook account, it was because my Facebook page was not linked to my Facebook account. After I fixed this I was able to share my IGTV videos.
Follow the steps below to link your Facebook page to your IGTV.
Stage 1: Open the admin panel of your Facebook page and tap Settings.

Step 2: Select Instagram on the left side of the Facebook page settings.

Stage 3: Tap the Link Account button.

This will open a new browser window where you will be asked to enter your Instagram account credentials.
Step 4: If you are logged into Instagram in the browser, you can tap the ‘Continue as…’ button without having to enter your email/username and password.

You can tap the Switch account button to link a different Instagram account to the page.
Now that your Facebook Page is linked to your Instagram account, you should not face any issues while sharing IGTV videos on your Facebook account.
If you don’t have a Facebook page linked to your Facebook profile, you’ll get a ‘Facebook Page not found’ error when you try to share IGTV videos to Facebook.

Obey the rules
While you can share regular Instagram posts (photos, short videos, etc.) on your personal Facebook profile, Instagram TV (IGTV) videos can only be shared on a Facebook page. In cases where you can’t share IGTV videos even though your Facebook page is linked to your Instagram account, unlinking and reconnecting your Facebook account can help. If nothing works, the problem may be due to the end of Instagram; You should check the status of IGTV.
