On Wednesday (13), the Tesla surprised the world by announcing the Optimus Gen 2, an improved version of its humanoid robot, which was originally introduced in 2022.
The company’s CEO, Elon Musk, shared the news through his X (formerly Twitter) account, revealing fascinating details about the new prototype.
The Optimus Gen 2 not only impresses with its 10 kg weight reduction compared to its previous version, but also with the significant improvement in its speed, smoothness and expansion of its capabilities.
However, the highlight is his appearance, now even closer to the human experience.
Improvement of the invention
Elon Musk, in his publication, provided viewers with a view of the evolution of robotby presenting previous prototypes that allowed a remarkable comparison.
In the released video, we see a more human foot design, with articulated sections in the toes and notable advances in force/torque sensors.
The hands have also received a complete renovation, which allows more freedom of movement and tactile sensors on each finger to improve object manipulation.
The video highlights the robot’s ability to execute delicate movements, exemplified by its dexterity when masterfully holding an egg.
Tesla, optimistic about the new prototype, expects the improved aerodynamics and greater balance of the Optimus Gen 2 to surprise even more.
