There was a time when digital currencies were the terror of many people. A completely unknown and insecure content. However, now this is no longer a reality for many people around the world and not even for Brazilians.
Recently, there was a notification that Brazil is developing the Real Digitala currency that aims to be used much more than the Pix function, which provides instant payment.
At least this is the view that experts are having, especially the director of Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI), Luiz Fernando Maluf.
This will be the first step towards a digital trend that is being followed by thousands of banking institutions around the world. According to Maluf:
“There are strong indications that the adoption of Real Digital will occur at an even greater speed than that seen when Pix was implemented, and will result in new business models for financial institutions and consumers in various segments of the economy.”
Pix acceptance
It’s no surprise that the Pix function has been much loved by Brazilians. Today, it’s almost impossible to go to a place and not find a QR Code displayed on the counter or even a CPF or CNPJ to carry out an instant transaction.
With just over two years of use, Pix has already completed nearly 25 billion transactions. According to Maluf, this is an incredible phase, in which countless Brazilians have entered a new digital era in their financial lives. In addition to not having an additional fee at the time of the transaction, Pix is also much safer.
Contributing to a new project
A good number of Brazilian institutions agreed to be part of this initial stage of the creation of the Real Digital in order to experience what the implementation process of this new feature will be like.
Maluf also highlighted that, in this project, the Central Bank sought to add cloud computing, without mentioning companies that provide services involving cryptocurrencies, such as Hyperledger. These new features will allow the process of using the Digital Real to be much safer.
