With the intention of offering more access options to the artificial intelligence (AI) tool, OpenAI announced the launch of the ChatGPT application for cell phones. The company announced the news last Thursday (18).
Since its launch, the bot of artificial intelligence has become the focus of global wonder and concern, gaining both supporters and critics as it has opened up.
One of the most heated debates revolves around the tool’s ability to produce content similar to what people create and respond to questions.
Even Facebook parent Meta issued a warning in April about malicious software that could be used to impersonate ChatGPT or similar AI tools. Is this a risk to the market or an inevitable innovation?
The thing is, adjusting access to ChatGPT on smartphones was only a matter of time. Now, the tool is available in the Apple app store.
Google must be smart
With the advancement of ChatGPT for mobile phones, the tool is beginning to make a bit more headway in the search engine market. Now, this market is still dominated mainly by Google, but it is being pressured by the rise of generative AI.
On its website, OpenAI said the free tool will allow users to:
“[…] have access to accurate information without the need to filter advertising or multiple results.”
This is a clear dig at Google’s search engine experience.
ChatGPT launches for mobile phones
The Microsoft-sponsored company announced the launch of ChatGPT access for cell phones first in the United States and then the release will expand to other countries.
However, at first, the tool will only be available for iOS devices. But OpenAI will expand to Android devices soon.
Thus, for Android devices, one resource will be to access ChatGPT, and for other smartphones it is to access the tool through Bing, Microsoft’s search engine that uses the same technology as OpenAI.
