Mysterious creatures of the oceansto the Giant and colossal squid have sparked imaginations for centuries, inspiring famous myths such as that of the Kraken.
However, even with advances in search marine life, these beings remain shrouded in mystery, with information about their behavior and habitat still scarce, given the difficulty of research.

The impressive wingspan of giant squids (Architeuthis dux), which can reach up to 14 meters in length and the grandeur of colossal squids (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni), which exceed half a ton in weight, make them true wonders of nature.
Until the early 2000s, sightings of these animals were rare. It was only after that time that a team of researchers managed to shed light on the mystery, literally, by creating a special hunting environment, illuminated by red lights that go unnoticed by the giant squid’s sensitive eyes.
Using an artificial jellyfish called e-jelly, they managed to imitate the warning bioluminescence of these creatures, attracting them for observation. The result was the capture of several species of deep-sea squid, including the majestic Architeuthis dux.
Surprisingly, this discovery revealed that these creatures are not mere passive ambushers, but rather active and fierce hunters. Squids, with their tentacles, arms and beaks of extraordinary proportions, agility and elusiveness, intrigue scientists.
There is still a lot of ignorance about marine animals
Despite this progress, there is still an abyss of ignorance about their eating habits and their distribution across the vast oceans.
The exploration of the ocean depths remains an incomplete territory and tireless research becomes crucial for the preservation of these species, as well as for understanding the delicate balance they play in marine ecosystems.
Research into these enigmatic creatures underscores the vital importance of the work of biologists marine life in identifying and understanding the diverse forms of life that share our planet.
As we unlock the secrets of the deep, we also commit to protecting these extraordinary beings from extinction, ensuring their health of the seaswhich we all share.
