Apple is finally going to add a feature that users have been waiting for. Officially announced by Apple during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, the iOS 17 will allow people to use Apple Maps even when offline, a feature that Google has had for years, but which was not available in the iOS app.
The new feature is part of a set of updates that will be available in the new version. The features presented go far beyond GPS.
When iOS 17 arrives in Brazil later this year, it will bring with it the new feature. Apple itself announced that users will have an easier time using the map. To do so, simply download the app Apple Maps and while offline, they can access the app’s GPS to drive or walk.
The features don’t stop there. With Apple Maps offline, users will be able to see their estimated time of arrival at certain locations. In addition, they will be able to find locations and much more.
In short, the update will bring much more convenience to users, who will be able to stay up to date with urban mobility in their city quickly and clearly.
More efficient urban mobility
When it comes to vehicle and pedestrian traffic in a city, iOS 17 promises to be a great facilitator. With the update, it will be possible to check the availability of electric vehicle charging, a function that will even receive a filter specifying the type of charging available for the user to choose.
In the United States, iOS 17 goes even further: the update will allow users to discover park trails and even collaborate on the information, adding details about the locations, such as the type of trail, the level of difficulty and the elevation gain. This feature is expected to be released to all regions.
Other new developments also attract attention
In addition to Apple Maps, other possible features have caught the attention of iPhone users. Apparently, iOS 17 will bring improvements to the iPhone’s search system. In addition, it is believed that some accessibility features will be improved and may be adapted to user preferences.
Additionally, Apple’s update brings new possibilities to the incoming call interface, which can be customized with photos, emojis and even font colors.
Similar to AirDrop, NameDrop will allow users to exchange contact information simply by tapping their phones together, or even their Apple Watch.
iOS 17 is expected to be released alongside the iPhone 15, that is, in September this year.
