A curious image taken by NASA’s Perseverance probe shook social media and fueled Internet users’ speculation. On the ground of Marsa floating blue sphere appeared, arousing everyone’s curiosity.
The peculiar recording was made by Perseverance’s Right Navigation Camera. The image, which looked like something out of a movie, quickly generated a virtual call to NASA, calling for explanations about the phenomenon.
However, the space agency remained silent, leaving the online community full of doubts.
Blue sphere is recorded by probe on Mars

Given the lack of official response, Professor Grant Kennedy, from the University of Warwick, in England, decided to clarify the situation. He claims the image was just light reflecting off the inside of the camera.
He added that the Sun was positioned far ahead, which made it likely that light was shining directly on or into the lens, generating the intriguing image of the bluish sphere.
The sphere, apparently floating on the Martian soil, was completely out of the ordinary. The image, captured by the probe’s Right Navigation Camera, raised questions about its origin and nature.
Despite the photo going viral, the NASA chose to maintain the suspense, not commenting on the image that aroused the curiosity of internet users around the world.
When questioned by Metro, experts unraveled the mystery. Greg Brown, an astronomer at the Royal Observatory of Greenwich, agreed, suggesting that the phenomenon was a diffraction artifact, responsible for the rainbow of colors present in the image.
The enigma of the blue sphere on Mars seems to find its explanation in the very functioning of the probe’s camera, dispelling speculation and offering a dose of reality to the cosmic mystery.
Still, the image continues to fascinate, showing how the border between fiction and reality can be tenuous when exploring the mysteries of space.
