If you have a subscription to Amazon, this news might not make you happy, okay? That’s because, starting in 2024, Amazon Prime Video plans to include ads in its subscription plan. The subject has already been debated among major platforms, such as Netflix and Disney+.
The measure will initially be implemented in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada at the beginning of the year. However, further expansion plans will be to include France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia. Brazil, for now, has no forecast for when this should happen.

To avoid ads, subscribers will have to pay
As announced by deadlinesubscribers who wish to opt-out of ads will have the option to pay an additional fee of $2.99 to maintain their signature without any type of advertising.
Amazon told the magazine that the number of ads will be lower than that found on traditional TV and other streaming platforms, although specific numbers were not disclosed.
Currently, in Brazil, a subscription to Amazon’s streaming service costs R$14.90 and has great inclusions, such as free shipping and other details. However, not everyone was happy with this information, knowing that the country should soon enter this field with advertisements.
Based on this, it can be seen that streaming platforms have increasingly invested in these plans with advertisements as a way of delivering a cheaper subscription. But they also intend to make the subscriber pay more, because, as the advertisements run, the content is stopped for a period.
Large streaming companies, such as Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max, are already discussing this possibility. Currently, Netflix delivers a plan in the same format, with ads, for R$18.90 for anyone interested. Therefore, you save money, but you have to face some advertisements.
Now we have to wait to find out what the decision will be. Prime Video and when this starts to come into force. Stay tuned!
