Be proactive in filtering telemarketing calls by activating spam protection on your cell phone. Brands like Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme offer this option natively.

The prefix 0303 indicates telemarketing calls, as determined by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). Follow these steps to activate protection:

• Open the calls menu and go to settings (three vertical dots in the top right corner);
• Search for ‘Caller ID and spam’;
• Enable spam call protection and, if available, enable the ‘Filter spam calls’ option.

This setting will automatically inform you if the call is suspicious, providing details about the caller if it is a known company or institution.

2. App to identify unknown numbers

For a more robust approach, apps like TrueCaller are useful. However, remember the risks to privacy and use them only if the native methods are not sufficient.

TrueCaller shows call details, allows you to filter and even block specific numbers. It is available for Android and iOS.

3. Search for the number on the internet

If the previous options don’t work, turn to the internet. Sites such as Call Filter and Quem Calling have extensive number repertoires and allow users to share information about unknown callers.

Simply enter the number into a search engine to access these features.

4. Save the number and search for it on WhatsApp

For mobile numbers, add them to your address book and start a conversation on Whatsapp. If the number is linked to an account in the app, you will see information such as photo, name and description.
