Guide to Scheduling Emails in Gmail on Mobile and Desktop

Imagine this: you’re late completing your work report to be sent to your manager at 8 a.m. the next day. Instead of getting up early or bothering your manager late at night, you can schedule your email containing the report for 7:30 am. Sounds good, right? I bet you want to do the same to make everyone’s life easier. That’s why we bring you a guide for scheduling emails in Gmail on Android, iPhone and PC.

If you think you need to install a third-party app or an extension to schedule emails, you’re wrong. Email scheduling feature is available in Gmail and it automatically sends an email on a specific date and time.

Lets start. Before we move on to the steps, there are a few things you should know about scheduling emails in Gmail.

Things to Know About the Timing Feature in Gmail

• You can choose any date or time to schedule your email.
• Scheduled emails will be sent in your own time zone where the email is scheduled.
• You can schedule up to 100 emails at a time.
• Scheduled emails can be sent within minutes of the actual scheduled time.
• You can edit or cancel the scheduled email.
• The recipient of the email will not know that the email is scheduled.
• After scheduling an email, you can turn off your computer/mobile phone or disable internet services. This is because Gmail automatically sends the email at the specified time even if you are offline.
• At the time of writing this post, Gmail does not support scheduling of duplicate emails.

How to Schedule Emails in Gmail on Mobile and PC

Let’s start with PC first, then Android and iPhone.

How to Schedule Emails in Gmail on Computer

Stage 1: Open the Gmail website and log in with your account information.

Step 2: Click the Compose button to compose a new email.

Stage 3: The e-mail compose window will open. Enter the recipient’s email address, subject, and body of the email. Instead of clicking the submit button, click the small arrow next to the Submit button. Click Schedule sending.

Step 4: If you want to schedule one of these, click on the appropriate time. Click Select date and time to set a custom date and time. Then set your preferred date and time.

Pro Tip: The time zone used to send the scheduled email is indicated on the screen where you schedule your emails.

This much. A confirmation message will be displayed in the lower left corner. You can undo the program using the available Undo button or edit scheduled emails as shown below.

How to Schedule Emails in Gmail on Android, iPhone and iPad

Stage 1: Launch the Gmail app and tap the Compose button.

Step 2: Enter all necessary details such as the recipient address, subject, and main content of the body. Next, tap on the three-dot icon at the top. Select Schedule sending from the menu.

Stage 3: Choose your preferred date and time. Tap on Choose date and time to set a custom time. This much.

Editing and Canceling Scheduled Emails in Gmail

When you schedule an email, it’s not set in stone. You can change the date/time, send the email immediately, or cancel the scheduled email.

How to Edit and Cancel Scheduled Email on PC

In the web version of Gmail, all your scheduled emails are located under the new Scheduled folder. You can do this by Gmail’s Inbox, Starred, Snoozed etc. You’ll find it in the left sidebar. Click the Scheduled folder to view your send later emails.

Click the email you want to edit or cancel. When the email opens, click the Cancel sending button.

Your message will be converted to a draft. Now, if you want to send the email right away, click on the Send button. To change the scheduled time, you will need to create a schedule, just as you would for a new email. So click the arrow icon next to the Submit button and select Schedule sending. Then select the date and time.

If you want to delete or cancel the scheduled email completely, you can click the cross (X) icon of the Compose email screen. Your email will be saved as a draft. Alternatively, click the Delete icon at the bottom of the Compose email screen to remove the email.

How to Edit and Cancel Scheduled Email in Gmail on Android, iPhone and iPad

Launch the Gmail app on your phone and tap the icon with three bars to open the left sidebar. Tap Scheduled from the menu.

All your scheduled emails will appear. Tap the email to open it. Inside the email, tap on Cancel sending.

Your email will be converted to a draft and will behave like a regular email. At this stage, the timing function is canceled. If you want to change the date or time, tap the Edit icon in the email. Next, you will need to reschedule your email.

Fly: If you don’t see the edit icon, go to Drafts from the sidebar. Open email and schedule.

To schedule an email, tap the three-dot icon and select Schedule sending. Choose your date and time.

Gmail Program Email Not Working

If the email did not arrive at the specified time, make sure you set the correct date and time. Also, as mentioned earlier, the email will be sent in your own time zone. So pay attention to that too.
