The Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) uncovered a fraud involving the sale of counterfeit cell phones in an operation that resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old young man in Ipatinga.
The suspect advertised the sale of Apple iPhones on the internet; however, the devices delivered to buyers had the Android operating system installed.
The operating system used by Apple is iOS, which makes iPhones different from other devices found on the market.

The arrest took place in the act on Wednesday (22/11), after the police received reports from victims who were deceived by the blow.
The swindler was arrested and must answer for the crimes committed. According to PCMG, one of the victims even paid R$5,000 for a device, believing it to be an authentic iPhone.
However, when he turned on his cell phone, he realized that the operating system was Android, confirming the fraud.
The scammer used advertisements on social media, displaying photos of iPhones genuine. However, the devices delivered to buyers only had an external resemblance to Apple models.
The discrepancy was only noticed when buyers tried to use the devices, at which point they discovered they had been deceived.
Following the complaints, the Civil Police began an investigation and began monitoring the suspect. The agents managed to catch the delivery of a tampered cell phone to another victim. With the fraud confirmed, the swindler was approached and arrested red-handed.
This case highlights the importance of caution when purchasing cell phones from independent online sellers. Although there are honest sellers, many scammers seek to attract customers with lower prices and tempting offers.
PCMG warns of the need to verify the origin of products and be wary of conditions considered unmissable.
