A Anatel announced that it has extended for another year the precautionary measure that blocks users who make short calls. In addition, the agency also announced the implementation of a protocol based on STIR/SHAKEN technology, which will display on your smartphone screen which company is calling you.

Anatel’s new caller ID
With the implementation of the protocol, users will be able to observe the authenticity of calls from telemarketing. Therefore, anyone who receives a call from a company will be able to see the name and logo of the company making the call.
Furthermore, it will also be possible to identify the subject that will be discussed in the call. Anatel stated that this protocol is based on STIR/SHAKEN, an international standard used in the United States and Canada.
STIR/SHAKEN works without the need to install any application on your smartphone and, in addition, there is an increase in identification security that is based on encryption and tokens managed by a governance and operational structure.
But will all companies be identified?
Initially, not all companies will be identified, as the adoption of this protocol will be optional. In this sense, in order to encourage adherence to the protocol, companies will be exempted from using the prefix 0303.
In the case of landlines, which are not compatible with enhanced identification, it will still be mandatory to use the prefix 0303 for calls. telemarketing.
Finally, Anatel pointed out that this implementation process is very complex. However, the first connections with the new technology are expected to happen this year.
