Before eating, our body releases hormones that stimulate appetite and trigger various types of desire (or “hunger”) in our body. According to expert Gabriela Cucalón:

“Digestion begins from the moment I see and smell food, because different types of hunger are activated.

As food passes through the digestive tract for about 15 to 20 minutes, our stomach can release signals to the brain to tell it that we have eaten and are reaching satiety.”

However, this physiological process is affected when we eat in front of a screen. Digestion can become more difficult, leading to increased stress levels and even weight gain.

Using electronic devices during meals can often be a way to escape the reality we live in, leading us to seek constant distractions. Therefore, it is necessary to work on disconnecting from screens and the internet so that we can truly connect with our bodies.

In this sense, the nutritionist suggests that we opt for gentler diets. In addition to considering the quality of the food, it is essential to pay attention to the content we consume when we eat.

In light of this, the specialist suggests an introspection exercise to understand the reason why there is a need to eat in front of screens.
