With the advancement of technology and the growing importance of the internet in people’s daily lives, the federal government is considering the implementation of points of Wi-Fi free for the population in agencies.
According to information on the portal Tele.Synthesisthis idea is part of the new restructuring plans for Mail. The intention is to promote free internet access for people who have limited access to technology.
“We have this social function of being present in all municipalities. In each municipality you visit, there is an agency. We want to make the internet available everywhere so that, when arriving at the ‘Post Office Square’, in any small town, people can access the internet”, said Fabiano Silva, president of Correios.

According to the president of Correios, the idea is to promote the “social function” of the institution, going beyond the mailing service. orders.
The project is still in the analysis process, in the initial stages and under discussion with the Ministry of Communications (MCom). However, Silva states that the idea should move forward soon and come to fruition this year.
“Communication is a guarantee that the Brazilian state must provide so that all people, anywhere in the country, have this right. We, the Post Office, are the ones who guarantee this,” adds Silva.
Correios has an extensive network of 9,456 service points in 5,553 municipalities and recently announced an investment of R$350 million to build more branches throughout Brazil.
The transformation of agencies into points of Free Wi-Fi is part of this renewal process. However, there is still no defined deadline for implementing the project. It is important to highlight that the idea does not cover Post Office collection points.
