Over the years and with an increasing increase in temperatures on Earth, which is driven by climate change resulting from human action — such as degradation of nature and emission of polluting gases —, concern for the environment is increasingly intensifying.
The effects of compromising the environment are already visible, especially with global warming, something of extreme relevance, as it puts the safety of many forms of life on the planet at risk.
Now, it is clear that the situation is more complex than previously imagined. It turns out that the countdown on the Climate Clock, located in Union Square in New York, expresses more precisely the precariousness of the planet’s climate conditions and records a worrying time for the consequences of global warming.
Climate Clock points to drastic change in humanity in recent years

The large timer indicates the time remaining for humanity to drastically reduce CO2 emissions in order to avoid a catastrophic greenhouse effect. In other words, it represents the deadline for global warming to reach the limit established by the Paris Agreement, which is 1.5 °C.
We are already living in a planet with a temperature increase of 1.1 degrees Celsius compared to the time before the Industrial Revolution.
This may not seem like much, but the results are surprising, such as the temperature reached in China on July 16th, which reached 52.2 °C.
In addition, forest fires, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and heat waves are also increasingly present.
How much time do we have left?
According to data from the Mercator Research Institute for the Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) in Berlin, presented on the 24-meter Climate Clock, we now have about six years to take responsibility for the environment by reducing the emission of polluting gases.
The data is so alarming that recently even the Christ the Redeemerin Rio de Janeiro, was illuminated with the projection of the clock, awakening the population’s concern about the little time we have left.

Fortunately, humanity is increasingly moving towards sustainability, driving industry to adopt clean energy sources and more efficient technologies.
However, it is still necessary for countries to take firmer positions and implement more robust public policies aimed at protecting the environment. environment.
