A legend is a narrative passed down orally from generation to generation, the purpose of which is to explain mysterious or supernatural events, mixing real facts with imaginary or fanciful elements. These stories change and adapt as they are passed on by the popular imagination.

The word “legend” has its origins in medieval Latin and etymologically means “that which must be read”.

You’ve probably heard about the Bigfoot. This legend is very popular, especially in the United States, as there are reports that Bigfoot has been seen in California, Washington and many other places in the country.

There is a very famous video, recorded in 1967, in which you can see a large figure walking through a forest. Many people say that this is actually a Bigfoot.

This video recently went viral again after artificial intelligence was used to stabilize it. This is because it was previously difficult to view the images clearly, mainly due to the time the video was made and the camera used to record it.

Understand the case

Rowan Cheung used artificial intelligence to stabilize the viral Bigfoot video, which was originally called Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot.

This way, you can get a clearer view of the large figure walking through Six Rivers National Forest in the northwest corner of California.

The footage was filmed at Bluff Creek Lake, approximately 38 miles (61 km) south of Oregon, on the afternoon of Friday, October 20, 1967. Patterson and Gimlin, friends who often rode horses in the area, were responsible for the filming.

At approximately 1:15 to 1:40 p.m., they were passing along the eastern shore of the lake when they came across a large tree downed in a bend in the creek.

In their statements, the two said it was possible to see the roots of the tree, and explained that it was enormous, much bigger than a house.

The location where the filming was done was lost for decades, mainly due to the growth of foliage on the lake bed, but it was rediscovered in 2011.
