A new leap in robotics has been achieved by researchers at Arizona State University (ASU), in the United States. The partnership between scientists and the company Thermetrics resulted in the creation of ANDI, the robot humanoid.

It was designed to mimic the body’s thermal functions, using individual thermal sensors located in 35 areas of its carbon fiber surface.

In this way, the android is capable of discerning internal and external temperatures, replicating heat flow and perspiring through pores, in a similar way to human beings.

The robot developed by ASU stands out as the only one capable of operating in external environments, including direct sunlight, thanks to its perspiration cooling system, which provides protection.

An advance in human knowledge

ANDI represents a major milestone for science, as it is now possible to better understand the impacts of extreme temperatures on the human body, something unfeasible until now, for moral and ethical reasons.

In addition to all this innovation, the mannequins can be designed according to each type of person, with programming that simulates metabolic acceleration at different stages of life.
