The featherweight legend has decided to relegate to the smallweight division for the first time in his career, and his debut didn’t go according to plan. Swanson was paired with the dangerous Jonathan Martinez for a three-round main event fight.
Swanson could not beat his 28-year-old rival today in any way. Swanson was slowly picking up the beat, but Martinez’s kicks and sly elbows were too much for the UFC Hall of Fame to handle. In the second round, Swanson was knocked out by leg strikes.
Martinez knocked the fighter down with a low kick, and also threw a few punches while on the ground. Herb Dean stepped in to start the fight. This ending was vicious for “Dragon” as it destroyed the legend’s legs.
