Mahomes also said he gave the Chiefs some inside information. He felt early in the draft that several teams were following him with their picks, so he passed this on to the Chiefs and asked them not to let him go below the 12th pick in the draft.
“I gave the Chiefs some inside information and thought, hey, if you let me go anywhere down there, I didn’t know anything about the Saints back then, y’all let me go 12 or below, I’m going to be enlisted by someone else. So to the Chiefs. I gave some information about it because I wanted to be here.” said.
